Our first show in a while, sometimes it’s good to have a little break.
Seren was in her first Yearling class, and very much the baby in it. It was a big class, so I was pleased with her Reserve placing.
Lottie was in her last Post Grad class, and it was a big one! She got Very Highly Commended.
I was also thrilled to see Albus, Ailsadot Astral Peacock, in the ring for the first time. He got First in Yearling, First in Novice and Third in Special Beginners. Absolutely fantastic results for him and his owner on his first outing. Hopefully he’ll continue to have lots of success.

A.V.Utility . 2. (Dalmatian) Wallington’s Ailsadot Astral Lyra B 14mths. Typey, evenly marked with good head, ample bone & substance, deep chest, pleasing outline and moved soundly.
I love going to the SKC, a lovely show, and I love the tartan prize cards and rosettes!
Seren was Reserve in a big Junior class. She’s not feeling the best, starting with a phantom pregnancy so hormonal and moody.
Lottie got Very Highly Commended in a large Post Graduate class, and the went into Limit, being placed third out of 6. That means she has gained her Stud Book Number, qualifying her for Crufts for life. I am a solute lay over the moon and thrilled for her.
The girls (human and spotted) loved the weekend, especially staying in a hotel and having steak and Mac n Cheese!
We’ve had some critiques back for Seren from some Open shows.

Wallington’s Ailsadot Astral Lyra. Dalmatian. Promising 16 mth old black spotted Dalmatian bitch. Feminine girl who presented a nicely balanced outline with arched neck of good length, level topline, chest of good depth and nice spring of rib, muscular loin and tail just right for set and carriage. Attractive head with good skull to muzzle proportions, lovely eye, well broken ears and correct dentition. Good angles front and rear and moves out well on the go around.
Seren’s critique from the Lancaster and District Canine Society Open Show, judge Hannah Patrick.
Wallington’s AILSADOT ASTRAL LYRA 16 month old, black spotted bitch shown in excellent condition – stunning white coat with clean black spotting, very eye catching. Loved her head; good width of skull, dark eyes and well broken ears which she used to full effect. Elegant clean neck into a well-developed front construction, well sprung ribs and muscular loin. Nicely constructed rear, hocks well defined and correct tail set. Held her topline and correct tail carriage on the move, just preferred the rear drive of 1 today. RBOB
I love it when there are a couple of shows on the same day at the same venue. Whilst it makes for a longer day, it allows more time to chat and socialise.
Today we had the Lancaster and District Canine Society and the Morecombe and Heysham Canine Association shows. It was a bit hectic at times, juggling rings, but lots of fun. We just entered Seren in both shows.
We kicked off with the Lancaster and District Canine Society show, and the Dalmatians were judged by breed Specialist Hannah Patrick. In the Junior class Seren came second, just a bit bouncy on the run. She was then called back to compete for Reserve Best of Breed and she got it, so really proud of her. She was much more settled on her second run.
The Morecombe and Heysham Canine Association Dalmatian classes followed. Seren won her Junior class and ultimately won Best in Breed. She sadly didn’t get placed in the Utility Group, but she showed her socks off.
The final class of the day was the AV Junior stakes class, which she won, winning pocket money, which she spent on furry rabbits feet and plaited pizzle braids to share with Mac and Lottie.
I love how settled Seren is at shows, she just chills out until she nbeds to be in the ring …
With the weather being so hot we decided to head to the beach for an early morning run, let the Spots let of some steam, but keep cool in the sea. The tide was at it’s lowest so we had a bit of walk down to the sea. The Spots loved chasing each other and the wading birds! They spent a happy 2 hours messing around in the water and along the shore line.
We were leaving the beach as everyone else was arriving, that’s my idea of a good walk, plenty of empty space for the dogs to roam in.
After spending the morning snoozing off their exercise, the Spots had frozen Toppls for lunch, a way of keeping cool and having a different type of exercise in this very hot weather. Licking and chewing activities are calming and tiring activities, so perfect for hot days when they can’t get out as much.
Frank Kane (he of Crufts fame) was judging Dalmatians at Leeds, so I decided to take all three to the show. The girls showed their socks off in big classes, Mac was less enthusiastic on the run, so didn’t get as highly placed as he could have done, but that life.
Mac got third in a big Limit class of 12.
Seren got third in a massive junior class of 19! Lottie got Reserve in a big Post Graduate class.
Fantastic results for the Spots, and really pleased with them and the comments the judge made about them.
It’s so hot, we decided to take a few days off to visit my parents in the Lake District, where its 5 degrees cooler than at home. The Spots love their Naini’s, it has plenty of space, a stream and shaded areas.
