Judge: Tim Ball

AV Junior Stakes (31,22)

  1. Wallington’s Ailsadot Astral Lyra. Dalmatian. Promising 16 mth old black spotted Dalmatian bitch. Feminine girl who presented a nicely balanced outline with arched neck of good length, level topline, chest of good depth and nice spring of rib, muscular loin and tail just right for set and carriage. Attractive head with good skull to muzzle proportions, lovely eye, well broken ears and correct dentition. Good angles front and rear and moves out well on the go around.

Seren’s critique from the Lancaster and District Canine Society Open Show, judge Hannah Patrick.

  1. Wallington’s AILSADOT ASTRAL LYRA
16 month old, black spotted bitch shown in excellent condition – stunning white coat with clean black spotting, very eye catching. Loved her head; good width of skull, dark eyes and well broken ears which she used to full effect. Elegant clean neck into a well-developed front construction, well sprung ribs and muscular loin. Nicely constructed rear, hocks well defined and correct tail set. Held her topline and correct tail carriage on the move, just preferred the rear drive of 1 today. RBOB

A Couple of Open Shows

I love it when there are a couple of shows on the same day at the same venue. Whilst it makes for a longer day, it allows more time to chat and socialise.

Today we had the Lancaster and District Canine Society and the Morecombe and Heysham Canine Association shows. It was a bit hectic at times, juggling rings, but lots of fun. We just entered Seren in both shows.

We kicked off with the Lancaster and District Canine Society show, and the Dalmatians were judged by breed Specialist Hannah Patrick. In the Junior class Seren came second, just a bit bouncy on the run. She was then called back to compete for Reserve Best of Breed and she got it, so really proud of her. She was much more settled on her second run.

The Morecombe and Heysham Canine Association Dalmatian classes followed. Seren won her Junior class and ultimately won Best in Breed. She sadly didn’t get placed in the Utility Group, but she showed her socks off.

The final class of the day was the AV Junior stakes class, which she won, winning pocket money, which she spent on furry rabbits feet and plaited pizzle braids to share with Mac and Lottie.

I love how settled Seren is at shows, she just chills out until she nbeds to be in the ring …

Formby Beach

With the weather being so hot we decided to head to the beach for an early morning run, let the Spots let of some steam, but keep cool in the sea. The tide was at it’s lowest so we had a bit of walk down to the sea. The Spots loved chasing each other and the wading birds! They spent a happy 2 hours messing around in the water and along the shore line.

We were leaving the beach as everyone else was arriving, that’s my idea of a good walk, plenty of empty space for the dogs to roam in.

After spending the morning snoozing off their exercise, the Spots had frozen Toppls for lunch, a way of keeping cool and having a different type of exercise in this very hot weather. Licking and chewing activities are calming and tiring activities, so perfect for hot days when they can’t get out as much.

Leeds Champ Show

Frank Kane (he of Crufts fame) was judging Dalmatians at Leeds, so I decided to take all three to the show. The girls showed their socks off in big classes, Mac was less enthusiastic on the run, so didn’t get as highly placed as he could have done, but that life.

Mac got third in a big Limit class of 12.

Seren got third in a massive junior class of 19! Lottie got Reserve in a big Post Graduate class.

Fantastic results for the Spots, and really pleased with them and the comments the judge made about them.

Lake District fun

It’s so hot, we decided to take a few days off to visit my parents in the Lake District, where its 5 degrees cooler than at home. The Spots love their Naini’s, it has plenty of space, a stream and shaded areas.

Seren’s critique from the National Dog Show

National Dog Show 5th May 2022
Judge: Maria Hobbs

Novice Bitch (10 Entries) Abs: 1
1st: WALLINGTON, Mrs C Ailsadot Astral Lyra
Lovely black who is up to size. Perfect decoration and carries her tail perfectly off her back. Well off for bone, has a nice width of thigh and good chest room. Very pretty classical head with a nice broad skull with good stop into a correct head ratio. Moved well.

Blackpool Champ Show

3rd show in a week for Seren, and her best outing of the week, she was really on form. She won a large Junior Bitch class.

Having won her Junior class, she went up against the Junior dog winner for Best Junior in Breed. She beat him, being crowned Best Junior in Breed. Whilst she got nothing in the Group, I floated home, as she’d beaten a dog that had won a Reserve Dog Challenge Certificate.

The Royal Cheshire Dog Show

A day out for all three Spots, just up the road to the Cheshire Show ground. It was incredibly hot, luckily we managed to get some cover do the dogs were in the shade.

All three got placings, Mac won his Open class and Best in Breed, Lottie got Reserve in Post Graduate, and Seren came 3rd in Junior.

Ruthin Canine Society Premier Open Show

Seren and I had a road trip to Llangollen for the Ruthin Canine Society show.

Sadly she was the only Dalmatian there, so she won her class and got Best in Breed.

She didn’t get placed in group, but got 2nd in AV Utility Junior, and 3rd in AV Junior stake, winning herself some pocket money.

Critiques from the Scottish Kennel Club Champ Show
