Discover Dogs at Crufts

I love taking the girls’ to do Discover Dogs at Crufts. It’s a great opportunity to show off our amazing breed and dispel some myths people have about them.

Both girls’ love saying hello, especially Lottie, who spent the 2 and a half hours smiling and sneezing at everyone! Seren found it a bit tiring, but she’s still a baby and hasn’t worked out that she needs to pace herself 🤣

The Joint Dalmatian Clubs Champ Show

All three Spots went to the last Joint Dalmatian Clubs Champ show, and all came home with a rosette and place card.

Seren was up first in a large Yearling class, and placed 3rd. I was pleased with this placing as she was a bit of a fidget bum, and kangarooed a bit on the run.

Mac was next up in Limit, and he placed 2nd behind Lottie’s brother. Again, I was pleased as he was very sniffy and was a little unsettled being gone over.

Lottie ended the day in a large limit class, and as usual showed her socks off. She got Very Highly Commended.

The critique from Blackpool Champ Show

Finally I’ve got Seren’s critique from Blackpool Champ Show 2022, where she won her Junior class and Best Junior in Breed.
I am over the moon with this critique.

JB11(3) 1. Wallington’s Ailsadot Astral Lyra. 14-month-old beautifully balanced bitch of excellent type in proportions. Strong but feminine head, good stop and well-placed ears, good muzzle, correct bite and pigmentation. good neck excellent shoulder and forehand construction, good return of upper arm and good bone Tight feet. she has excellent ribs and depth to brisket, excellent top-line and tail set well angulated hindquarters, I loved her compact shape. She moved accurately, with great reach and drive in profile holding her top-line and head carriage. she is a super fit young lady, and gave a great account of herself good coat condition and black spotting. She stood out for me in this class with her balance super movement, she was my best junior.

Spring is coming

Finally the signs of Spring are appearing. It’s hard to believe that this time two years ago we were planning the Ailsadot Astral litter. Both Mac and Lottie have matured nicely over the last couple of years, and Seren is beginning to mature, she’s still very much a puppy mentally, and going through another growth spurt.

We are in the final stages of Crufts preparations. We will be doing Discover Dogs with Lottie and Seren and then all three will be in the ring on Utility day. That’s meant ringcraft practise and some warm up shows for the three of them.

Ringside photoshoot

I was really lucky to get Jenny Evans from the JackPack to take some ring side photos of Seren at Lichfield. Whilst we always take photos, it’s not the same as getting the professional ones done.

Jenny took loads, particularly of Seren moving, due to how we stood in the ring. I had to have them all, just could pick a few!

Lichfield Canine Society Premier Open Show

Just Seren for the trip to Staffordshire County Showground for this open show. There was a nice entry for the Dalmatians as the original judge is a breed specialist.

Seren was in Post graduate, along with 4 other dogs. she moved like a dream and won the class.

She went onto to challenge for Best of Breed and beat the Open class winner to become best of breed. I’m super proud of her, she was brilliant.

The judge kept clarifying her age!! She was a fidget but moved really well.

Very proud of her rosettes and bannerette!

Manchester Champ Show

Our first time to this show, just the girls’. It was in the main hall at the Staffordshire County Show ground. It was very loud and the benching was away from the ring.

As it’s the last chance to qualify for Crufts, the classes were large, 11 in Seren’s and 15 in Lottie’s.

It was one of the last Yearling classes for Seren, she’ll be 2 in April. She got a respectful Very Highly Commended in the strong class.

Lottie wasn’t placed in her Limit class, but as always she strutted her stuff and had a great time.

Boston Champ Show

First show of 2023, and we took a long trek south to Peterborough. Lottie, Seren and Beth were very excited as it meant a night in a hotel! And the girls’ love a hotel room!

Seren was in a big Yearling class, and even though she was a bit fidgety, she still got placed second.

Lottie was in a big Limit class, and although she showed her socks off, didn’t get placed. It was a shame as the judge was the first judge she went under, and he placed her highly in her classes.

Whilst the girls’ loved the ring, they preferred the hotel 🤣
